Part of the fun of a campfire is making it.

From splitting wood into small pieces with a knife to feather sticks that slice wood thinly like feathers and stack them to ignite the flame, these are the essence of fire making, and being able to complete these steps with a knife is the fun of it.

Although I hope the whole family can enjoy this fun together,

But, will the blade cut your hand? Will the blade break accidentally? It seems difficult to let a weak child chop or chip firewood...

Because of this, will the father eventually take on this role?

It would be much more enjoyable if the whole family could share in the fun of making a fire, not just Dad.

Even people with less strength can easily split wood, and even those without skills can easily chip firewood. Since the front end is not sharp, even beginners can use it with confidence.

"Let the whole family enjoy the fun of making a fire together."

We created a unique axe specifically for starting fires, a concept that had never existed before. Here are our five key features!

1. Due to the protruding design at the tip, the blade is not easy to wear.

"バトニング" is a technique of splitting wood with a knife. It is particularly useful for splitting long and thin wood, which is usually not easy to split with an axe.

By pressing the knife onto the firewood and then hitting the back of the knife with another piece of "different wood", the firewood can be easily split. Therefore, this has become a must-have skill for camping enthusiasts when making a fire and has attracted widespread attention.

For beginners, chopping wood is fraught with danger.

"I was unable to control the blade properly, which resulted in injury." "I used too much force, which damaged the tip of the blade."

Has anyone had such an experience?

In order to ensure that everyone can use it with peace of mind, we designed a protrusion called "Ishizuki" on the front of the knife to protect the blade.

If the blade is damaged by accidentally hitting a stone while chopping wood, I believe everyone has encountered this situation frequently. This situation may affect your mood for the whole day. However, because our thallium has a ridged design, you can apply force to chop wood without worrying about the ground.

In addition, when using a thallium or knife to chop wood, the blade often gets stuck on the chopping board and needs to be taken out every time. Does this make you feel a little annoyed? With the stone protrusion design, the blade will not get stuck on the chopping table easily, making the chopping process smoother.

2. The front end is not sharp, reducing the chance of injury.

Have you ever tried to free a stuck blade while chopping wood and accidentally stabbed yourself with the end of the knife or lead?

With our forged wood splitting spears, you will also have greater peace of mind as the risk of injury is lower as the front end is not pointed but rather has a rounded design.

3. Use the 6mm extra thick forged blade to easily split wood.
The blade is 6mm thick, which is pretty thick for a wood-chopping blade. This thickness makes it easier to push the wood to the left and right when splitting, and you can split the wood with less force than with a thinner blade.

In addition, the cross-section of the blade is slightly rounded, similar to a clam shell, called a "clam blade". This design increases the strength of the blade and reduces the possibility of edge wear. This gives it a much more powerful ability to chop wood.

4. No need to worry about breakage, solid full blade structure.

In traditional knives, the handle and blade are separate. When chopping wood, the connection between the blade and the handle may be under pressure, and there is a risk of breakage.

However, with a full blade construction that uses steel from the blade to the handle, you can hit it hard without any worries! This design reduces the risk of breakage and is very strong. You can use it with confidence.

We used silicon-manganese steel, which has high hardness and toughness, as the material. This special steel is often used in tiller claws, automobile leaf springs, etc., which require impact resistance.

We use a 600-ton giant press to hot forge the blades, making them extremely tough and durable.

Even if it is subjected to strong impact when chopping wood, the blade is not easy to wear or break. This is an authentic firewood splitting lead with excellent durability.

5. With an excellent center of gravity balance, you can easily and enjoy the cutting.
After chopping the firewood into small pieces, the next step is to make feather sticks. Making flammable feather sticks requires a lot of shavings of long, thin feathers, which is a very important step.

Controlling the cutting edge is extremely important, and the key lies in balancing the center of gravity of the blade.

If it is like a normal thallium, the head is too heavy and it is easy to be swung around when used. It also requires a lot of effort to control and it is difficult to accurately grasp the target.

If the handle is too heavy on one side, as with a full-blade construction, the blade will be controlled primarily with the arm, making delicate work and creating fine feathers difficult.

In the "Forged Wood Splitting Lead", by concentrating the entire center of gravity at the center, the appropriate weight of the front end of the blade can be used to easily cut wood with light force. At the same time, there is also a moderate weight on the handle side, which makes head control easier, thus achieving the production of delicate feathers.

The overall length of 24.5 cm also makes it as compact as a knife, convenient and easy to use.

We are also particular about the included holster.

We believe that packaging is also an important part of the work. That’s why we want to use materials you can confidently recommend.

About an hour's drive from our factory, in Himeji, also in Hyogo Prefecture, Sanyo Co., Ltd., which has a history of over 100 years, is Japan's top high-quality leather manufacturer, and we used their "full vegetable tanned leather".

Sanyo's all-vegetable tanned leather is gradually tanned by soaking in a pit containing tannin solution for about a month.

Therefore, without damaging the leather fiber layer, it maintains its toughness and strength, becoming a real "leather". This property is ideal for protecting sharp blades and delicate tip parts.

The work of packaging the leather is done by Toyooka Kabushige, who is also located in Hyogo Prefecture. This triple collaboration of "Himeji's leather" × "Toyooka's leather bag" × "Mitsuki Hatmono" has created high-quality leather packaging, and it is our standard configuration.

The brass buckle is a decorative embellishment, and you can also enjoy the fun of changing over time

From the knife town "Banshu Miki".
This product was created in Miki City, Hyogo Prefecture. This area was once known as "Banshu Miki" and is one of Japan's leading tableware production areas. We continue to produce high-quality tableware to this day. One of them is Kamizawa Iron Works, which developed FEDECA. Since our founding in 1895, when blacksmiths gathered together, we have been honing our craftsmanship for more than a century. Today, we have many products for professionals, such as drill bits and other woodworking tools.

Precautions for use
Clubbing is the art of chopping wood with an axe or knife.
Split the firewood by pressing the axe against it and striking the back of the axe with another piece of wood.

Please pay attention to the following points when using a hatchet.
・Do not hit the handle. Doing so may cause the handle to break.
・Do not hit the back of the axe with a hammer or other metal object.
・Please do this on a chopping board or tree, not directly on the ground.
・Do not break knotty hardwood.
・When using a machete, please wear protective gloves.

Blade Care

Forged hatchets use sharp, high-carbon steel, so rust prevention measures are essential for the long-term use of the blade.
The entire surface of the "Forged Hatchet" is coated with black fluororesin to protect the entire surface, but uncoated blades require anti-corrosion measures.
After use, wipe off the moisture and apply anti-rust oil such as camellia oil for long-term use.

Handle Care
FEDECA's special carnauba wax is applied to the wood of the handle upon shipment. The "Carnauba Wax" used in this carnauba wax has the highest hardness and melting point (melting temperature) among vegetable waxes, and is a 100% natural wax strong enough to be used for car wax. When the surface dries or the waterproofing effect disappears, use this wax or a commercially available wood wax to restore the original gloss. The more you apply it, the more protection it will provide, so reapply every time you use it.

* Locking agent is used for the screws that secure the handle. Do not attempt to disassemble the product; forcing the screws may damage the screw slots.
