The Wapta 30 is the first frameless pack designed specifically for ultralight hikers. Using advanced ALUULA Graflyte™ materials, the Wapta combines innovative features with advanced construction and ergonomic shaping. The result is a pack that weighs just 12.8 oz (365 g) while being incredibly capable, durable, and comfortable. The Wapta 30 is the ideal overnight pack for ultralighters and an excellent day hiking pack for everyone.
With the Wapta 30, we are proud to introduce the first ultralight pack made with ALUULA fabrics. ALUULA uses a proprietary process that solves the long-standing problem of how to fuse a durable waterproof membrane to incredibly tough UHMWPE fibers. The outcome is ALUULA Graflyte™, the first composite pack fabric with a 100% UHMWPE woven face, which allows for lower weight while maintaining outstanding durability. The version used here weighs just 98 g/m^2 (2.9 oz/yd) while offering higher tear strength and abrasion resistance than all comparable fabrics – making ALUULA packs lighter and tougher.
ALUULA’s Graflyte™ also has many other advantages, including more durable long-term waterproofing, as its proprietary fusion process avoids glues (which add weight and can contribute to fatigue). ALUULA Graflyte™ is also stain-resistant, UV-resistant, fully recyclable, has low water absorption, is edge-stable, and is thermo-weldable.
With the Wapta 30, we leverage these characteristics to create a lighter, simpler, and more capable pack. For example, we thermo-weld the air mesh to the back panel for ventilation, and we use the edge stability of the fabric to laser cut drainage holes on pockets and laser cut tougher ALUULA Durlyte™ into daisy chains that are lighter than traditional webbing.
