Nothingblue x Sakeskie Transparent Masu Set

To celebrate Nothingblue's fourth anniversary, the first collaboration this year is with the popular Japanese brand Sakeskie, launching a co-branded product - the Transparent Masu Set.

When drinking sake in Japan, you often see a small wooden box (masu) under the sake cup. The staff will typically fill the sake cup until it overflows, and then it spills into the masu until that also overflows. This represents abundant hospitality.

The Masu Set is sold as a complete set, including (ichi-go, go-shaku, and san-shaku) (180ml, 90ml, and 54ml respectively). In Japanese sake measurement units, "ichi-go" means 180ml, a standard small bottle size, and "ichi-shaku" is 18ml, and so on.

This collaborative product is a Nothingblue exclusive version, with Sakeskie and Nothingblue logos on the front and back. The sides feature a symbol derived from many overlapping "N"s, representing our logo's branches, forming a "Wreath." This symbolizes community/cultural exchange. The bottom has three different design patterns.

Most masu on the market are made of cypress wood, but the Sakeskie version is made of acrylic. Besides not affecting the sake's flavor with a woody taste, it's easier to clean and offers more flexibility in patterns.

The product is manufactured by Kitade Co., Ltd. in Japan, a lacquerware production company with nearly 80 years of history. The masu has a slight weight when held, giving it a delicate, high-quality feel.

Although the masu was created for purposes similar to a sake cup, the 3-set masu set can be used as snack containers for two of the cups, or shared with friends. The largest ichi-go cup can even be used as a small food dish. The san-shaku (smallest size) has a small hole and can be hung around your neck with the included lanyard, allowing you to walk around and toast with friends!
