Friends who have been to NB stores must have seen a large lantern with the Nothinblue logo. This time, the Lantern Project brings you traditional Japanese lanterns that can be customized! Japanese craftsmen will personally make lanterns for you and engrave your logo or words on them.

It has been nearly a year since this project was conceived. I still remember that the store manager took advantage of his work to go to Japan to look for lanterns carved and made by Japanese masters. It was not until the third time that I found and made our store lanterns with the help of a friend. Although the bottom of the lantern was slightly damaged after I brought it to the Taiwan market and sent it back to Hong Kong, it continues to light up the store in the store after being roughly repaired by the store manager.

This project hopes to provide an alternative for those of you who like traditional Japanese lanterns. After all, it is not easy to find products with a handmade flavor nowadays. Like Hong Kong, the craftsmanship of many Japanese craftsmen is also declining. In addition to bringing rare traditional handmade lanterns to everyone, the lanterns in this project can also add patterns and fonts that are unique to the guests, and can use the safer, simpler Goal Zero or ML4 as a light source that most people own. This is truly rare, and the quality is incomparable to the mass-produced lanterns and the intestinal lanterns seen on Japanese tourist streets.

The ancient lanterns we see today seem to be still made in the Muromachi period. In this project, Design Studio Bergchen focused on the shape of the lantern that has been passed down and used since ancient times, and imagined how it would be used as a tool and in what occasions it would be used as the times change. So the structure was redesigned to use small LED lighting, including Goal Zero / ML4 as a light source instead of fire.
